It was in the winter of her eighteenth year that Nina
Grey's destiny chose her. This is when she begins her story.
Perhaps when it is all over, she will tell all, but for now it is
far too dangerous.
It would appear that a beautiful young girl would not be
much of a threat to anyone, except to the hearts of foolish
young men. Who would have guessed that hidden in her
purse was a pistol, and tucked inside her corset were secret
messages that were a matter of life and death.
Nina Grey had known her share of troubles, being
orphaned as a young girl, but her life had been reasonably
dull. When the War Between the States broke out, she never
considered that the South's rebellion would be her troubles.
The state of Maryland was as neutral as rain, or so she
thought.
However, when her brother joined the Confederate Army,
the reality of a country divided by war fell upon her doorstep.
Driven by her passion to help her brother, her innocence
and charm made her the perfect candidate for the job.

This is a civil war novel that will appeal to readers of all ages as it includes
well-developed characters of various age groups. I like the family aspect of this
story and how the war has its affect on everyone, along with everyday
occurrences that might normally happen. There is always something exciting
going on to hold your interest.
The main character, Nina, is believable and you will find yourself immediately
concerned for her. The true-to-life characters are also well-sketched. That along
with the feeling of the time and some historical events are proof of the author's
extensive research.

Anyone who enjoys Historical Fiction and Spy stories will love this book by Nancy B. Brewer. She also has five other books that are extremely good. Nancy B. Brewer does extensive research for all of her books. She is a multi talented lady. She not only writes the stories, she also composes poems and songs to go with the stories. Her last two books have CD's to go with them. I have enjoyed all of her books. Nancy B. Brewer has a series of three other books from this time period - Carolina Rain, Beyond Sandy Ridge, and Letters from Lizzie. I can hardly wait to see what her next project will be.

I am always slightly annoyed when I reach the end of Nancy B. Brewer's books. She has a way of leaving you wanting for more and a desire to learn more. Having grown up in the South, I feel as though I am transplanted back to another era where the terrain is similar, yet somehow different. I believe that all great authors have that ability and skill and Nancy does not disappoint. I would recommend this book to all historical buffs and even those who are not. I can hardly wait to read of more adventures of Nina Grey, if that is to be.

Do not miss the wonderful book, THE TWO FACES OF NINA GREY. Ms. Brewer introduces Nina and her family to you, and you'll feel you know them well as you learn their hopes, plans and goals. Then you will meet more characters as the story becomes more intriguing with the turn of every page !!!!! This is an awesome story, and you'll be on the edge of your seat. I so highly recommend this wonderful book !!!!!!!
