Poke is a raw salad usually served as a delicious appetizer in Hawaiian cuisine.

Poke is word used to describe a section, slice or a cut.
A typical Poke dish consists of cubed tuna marinated with salt, soy sauce, sesame oil,
chili peppers and inamona – roasted crushed candlenut. Besides this basic combination,
other varieties can be made, which is just as tasty. Tuna can be replaced with salmon
so you can enjoy this dish in a variety of new poke flavors.

In this book you can choose between different poke options, from classic ones, to pokes
made with seaweed, wasabi or combination of salmon and tuna.

After a trip to Hawaii my husband and I became obsessed with poke but could not find the real Hawaiian poke style in mainland US. We started researching cooking books to make our own pokes and this was a great finding.

It has 20 poke recipes with ingredients that are easy to find if you are not in Hawaii. The recipes take about 10 minutes to prepare and then you just have to cool the poke in the fridge for 2 hours. This makes for great appetizers, fancy party snacks or dinner dishes.

The book does not contain pictures or nutritional information, but I was certainly not expecting any of that for the $2.99 price.

As discussed in this book, poke is a traditional hawaiian recipe which means that it is tried and tested through generations. This book has been a channel for this hawaiian delicacy to be shared to many people not only for us to experience hawaiian taste but for the tradition to continuously be passed to the coming generations. This book gave a lot of different recipes of poke that we can enjoy.

Very interesting! I don't know much about Hawaiian cuisine, so this book was fun for me to experiment with. The recipes are not hard to follow, but the results are pretty impressive. I haven't tried all the recipes yet, but the ones I have tried, we liked: ahi poke with creamy wasabi sauce and salmon poke. I look forward to trying more!

To be honest, I don’t know what a “poke” dish is all about before I got this book, although I’ve heard a friend who had a vacation in Hawaii talk about it. I was curious when I saw this book on Amazon, so I bought it. I have not regretted the impulse at all. I had the temerity to serve creamy ahi poke in a small gathering of friends in my home the other night, and my guests just love it. Since then I’ve tried other recipes with my partner doing the taste test, and all of them were great, according to him. What I truly like about the poke recipes is the ease to prepare them. My only problem is getting familiar with some of the ingredients and scouting for them in the Asian market.

This was a really great book! My daughter is a big fan of ahi tuna when it's served plain as sashimi and as sushi so I really think she will enjoy these poke recipes once I give them a try! I'm a little wary about the peanut butter poke though, but if it's a recipe in this book it must be worth a try!

I never knew poke was part of the food family until I read this! Easy to do recipes which could be done within 15 mins with the right ingredients and right procedures and you'll be saying aloha while eating!
