Editorial Reviews
Review
Trip Walk by C.M. Halstead is a science fiction novel about time travel. Halstead opens with a prologue, describing his thoughts about the possibility of time travel. This technique baits the reader for what lies ahead. The first several chapters introduce the cast of characters. Intertwined with the characterization, Halstead subtly includes the plot scheme. Once the characters travel through time, the pace picks up, peaks and descends. Although the Trip Walk was exciting, the mission comes and goes quickly, leaving many unanswered questions. Halstead's military background prevails, as his writing technique reflects the planning, strategy and logistics of the mission at hand. Trip Walk sets the stage for its sequel; it leaves the reader curious and anticipating more. - Reader's Favorite, reviews and rewards.

About the authors
C.M. Halstead is a life long adventurer and seeker. Torn between his writer’s cave, exploring, and thinking, he spends the rest of his time off-trail hiking, fishing, and seeking solitude. Early careers and titles include, USMC, Procurement, NAI Certified Interpretive Guide, Boss, and the hardest one of all, Dad.
He writes his stories on an old bus he is converting the planned completion date between now and his 30th novel; this does not stop him from driving it around the American southwest’s wilds seeking the places of solitude he needs to create the next story. He does not discriminate in the length of the stories he writes, each hero’s journey is as long or as short as it needs to be, no fluff necessary to tell the tale.
Self banished from “town” and away from it’s distractions, C.M. Halstead crafted The Tripper Series, Earned innocence, Mongers, and Not Eligible, to name a few. As a highly focused creative, he is usually working several stories at once and has 20 creative works in process. Regularly accused of depleting his readers of sleep, his stories are an escape from the grind eliciting the use of PTO, sick days, and late nights under the covers.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 28, 2020Interesting premise. The characters are ones that you want to learn more about. This is a short book and I will certainly buy book 2 in the series to do so. After book 1, I have a lot of questions that I want answered.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 6, 2015So, Trip Walk is not my typical genre - testosterone-driven, military, time-travel, etc. But with that said, I was intrigued enough to keep reading, curious as to what was going to happen next. It's a fun, original story line with lots of potential to go many different ways. As a new author, Halstead, has some refining to do, but I have confidence that the more books written, the better the writing will get and I'm looking forward to being along for the ride :-)
- Reviewed in the United States on August 21, 2015Halstead may be my new favorite author. The idea of time travelers from different times working together is packed with drama and humor. Looking forward to more books in the series.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 18, 2015Part Dr. Who and part military mission .... Trip Walk is the perfect weekend or day at the beach read. It left me wanting to sign up to be a Tripper and go on my first "trip". If anything, it left me wanting for more ... Wishing the book was two or three times longer.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 25, 2015Halstead's unique style of story development is a refreshing departure from the canned and mechanical plots we are so frequently exposed. Within the first few chapters my typical desire to pigeonhole characters or decipher the storyline had ceased and I was simply enjoying the Trip Walk journey... wherever it took me.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 3, 2017It's a fun read that goes by much too quickly. Be prepared to give up all spare moments once you start reading.

Just finished “Trip Walk (The Tripper Series, Book One) by C.M. Halstead. This is my first read by C.M. Halstead, and I really was quite entertained. I don’t read a lot of books that deal with the subject of time travel, but this one will have me exploring that area of the science fiction genre more than I do. In C.M.’s bio he says “Free your mind to worlds that may or may not be reality and let your imagination be ignited…” and he sure does live up to that idea. The plot was original and fresh, the characters were interesting and well rounded. C.M. is very descriptive in his style of storytelling, which is helpful in the fantasy genre and creating unusual surroundings. There was some really funny (tongue in cheek) dialogue along with the more and in spite of the more serious situations. Some characters take things lightly while others take a more professional and serious attitude. The juxtaposition of that was most entertaining and made things more believable and easy to realize. I was “transported” from page one to page two-hundred. Fast paced, lots of action and every bit an adventure. I am looking forward to “Kangal” which is the second book in this series. I highly recommend this read for your science fiction or action/adventure yearnings. Very entertaining and original.
Synopsis (from back cover): Grey walks back to his quarters. His rookies foremost in his mind; he has great confidence in his team, they not so much in themselves. This will have to change soon, it is key to their survival.
