About the author

A.A. Albright lives in the Irish countryside with her husband.
She loves reading in every genre, but writing cozy mysteries is just about the most fun she's had in a decade
All of her books are set in the same magical world, with the same magical rules and supernaturals occurring throughout. Each series itself is self-contained, and you don’t need to read any one series to understand another. But the characters do reserve the right to pop in on one another from time to time to make a little cameo or two.

One main problem gets solved in each book, characters with interesting names turn up and the books end with the possibility of a new quest in the future. In this books, trouble seems to strike celebrities.
Witches are not permitted to investigate crimes to non-witches, that is the domain of the thuggish Peacemakers, according to the Minister of Magic Law, Justine Plimpton. We already know that she hates Wanda.
A beautiful werewolf celebrity, Saskia Monroe, is poisoned while eating chocolates made by a young witch and a famous werewolf rockstar also goes missing. Holly Golly, a famous witch singer, then gets poisoned and her familiar, a parrot called Molly Golly, contacts Wanda for help. Finn Plimpton, the new captain of the Peacemakers, and Wanda and the other witches can now collaborate, but Justine is still trying to get rid of Wanda.
There was enough back references that I was able to quickly get engulfed into the story and its plots. Our protagonist, Wanda, is well on her way to getting back her powers while she dives into a complicated murder mystery.
The character development is well done. It's also nice to see some variation from the expected world of witches. I particularly liked the mango eating bat as a familiar.
Fun read with a nice plot.

This book is every bit as good as others by this author, with brilliant characters who provide comedy in their dialogues, romance, and wonderful descriptions such as Christine's frozen visions and the 'inner map' which bring the magic to life. Once again, I couldn't out it down and I'm going straight on to the next book in the series.

Wanda is being tested to be allowed to investigate for her coven, The Wayfair Witches.
Added to that drama is the disappearance of a well known Werewolf band member.
Suddenly life becomes even more busy as his ex-girlfriends start to be murdered.
Interesting plot, kept me reading.
Good ending, unexpected as well.
