The Keegan Trail is a must read book. The historical facts in this book after the Civil War are very intriguing. I love learning new things when it comes to history and being someone who has never been to Kansas I loved what facts I learned about the state, and even the Irish people who fought on both the Confederacy and Union during the Civil war and the lives they lived after the Civil War. I love the main story about a man named Mac Patton who lost his best friend Sandy (more like a brother because of growing up together), and a young girl Keegan who’s mother and father got killed by a pack of renegade men, brought this young lady and older man together as friends. Though they never forgot the people in their lives that had passed on because of these evil men that had killed the people they loved the most, they became friends and made each other laugh, smile, and even have a shoulder to cry on. While taking you on an adventure through Kansas and Colorado, Mac had promised himself he would get Keegan to her aunt in Blackhawk Colorado, then get justice for his friend Sandy and for Keegan’s mother and father. This story is a great story of how Mac an Keegan may have lost people they loved, Mac found a new friend in Keegan and she found a father figure in Mac. They never forgot the people they lost and the memories they had of their loved ones lost, but how life can change people and bring them on a whole new adventure. The descriptions of the terrain of Kansas and Colorado by Kurt James the author are so vividly real it paints a great picture to actually go on an adventure in the book.

One of my favorite quotes from the book comes toward the end. "Hey dummy! You forgot one small detail!". (Not the actual quote.I couldn't use one word). This certainly can not be said about Kurt James. Once again as with all of his other novels he has paid extreme attention to detail. His descriptions of the people, towns, and the surroundings of his characters are amazing. Just like his other novels the story line is outstanding and very well developed. You feel like you are right there with them as they travel the "Keegan Trail". All of his novels are great but I think this is my favorite one yet. I would encourage you to read all of Kurt James's novels. You won't regret it.
