If I could offer one comment to the author it would be this. You don't have to make men look weak in order for women to look strong. The story line is clean. The characters are interesting. The setting sounds beautiful. I just feel sad that in my opinion the first few chapters have a fairly strong "men=bad women=good" message. It softens later in the book but it wasn't necessary at all. Overall, it's a good book and you will enjoy it. I certainly did.

I like the concept of this story the small town outer bank island beach community with life long families and the drama that ensues. The mystery itself was well thought out. My main complaint had to do with the fact I didn’t really like the main character and her abrupt personality. She was just a bit too confrontational to me.

Finished this book last night. I choose books by title and this one called to me. I love strawberries and am a pushover for strawberry cheesecake. Yum! I even suggested to the author that she include one or two of Jenny's recipes at the end of the book. I admit to guessing the guilty party to the end of the book. I don't think Jason has much of a chance with Jenny, but time will tell. Most characters are charming and I can see them in my mind's eye.

The one unfortunate thing this author did is what many authors do. She used 'alright.' There is 'alright' and 'all right.' Each has a separate meaning. She, and others, needs to look them up and use the appropriate one. Also, 'tie-dyed' takes a hyphen.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a quick read, but charming. I live in Virginia near D. C. and could pretty much vizualize where "Pelican Cove" is located. I want more.

This is a fun story with interesting characters and the slower pace of a small community. The plot us straightforward and the premise is finding out who the dead stranger is and why he was killed. I definitely recommend this story.

I loved this book! Ms. Clover has written a strong first book in this new series! The main character is a likeable 40ish woman whose rotten attorney husband of 20 years dumped her for a younger woman and kicked her out of their house. She decided to move to live with her aunt in the small, quiet, peaceful seaside town of Pelican Cove, Virginia. Except that 3 months after she gets there, it’s not so quiet and peaceful. Someone is murdered. The storyline is strong and believable. I really liked how the friends take care of each other. I also enjoyed the twists and turns; when you think you know who the murderer is, you find out that you’re wrong! I had an extremely hard time putting this one down. If you like cozy mysteries about strong women, small towns and good friends, then you’ll love “Strawberries and Strangers: ACozy Murder Mystery (Pelican Cove Cozy Mystery Series Book #1) by Leena Clover. Can’t wait for Book #2!

Having never read cozy mysteries before I was a bit concerned if I would like them or not. I needn't have worried. I loved the characters and can already see where it's heading. I'm loving kindle unlimited and discovering new to me authors that I would never had read otherwise. I will definitely be following the other books in this series and look forward to all the books this author has written.
