Zoo Kindle Edition
In Middle-England, a sleepy village is preparing for its annual fete. Pumpkins and scarecrows adorn the houses, and shops line the winding streets.
Meanwhile, in a far corner of the cosmos, a planetary attraction is preparing too - for its new inhabitants. Among them are the residents of a sleepy village in Middle-England.
Their new home, a replica of the village that they were abducted from, is where the Earthlings are to live their lives for the amusement of others, under glass domes that reach up towards the stars.
But nearby, a bitter war is raging, as a rebellious leader looks to destroy anything that her enemies create. Soon, their worlds come crashing together with cataclysmic results.

About the author
Phil Price was born in Sutton Coldfield in 1974. He lived in various places in the UK until his family settled in Rednal, a suburb on the outskirts of Birmingham in 1979. Growing up with an older brother and sister, he always flirted with reading, his home always littered with books. Then in 1997, Phil embarked on a travel expedition that took him from Greece to Thailand, via East and Southern Africa. Sitting in dusty bus stations in Kenya, Tanzania and Malawi with Wilbur Smith and James Herbert accompanying him, his imagination was sparked into life. Since those far-off days, he has never been without a book to read.
Phil started toying with the idea of writing a book in 2009. After writing a few short stories, he caught a whiff of an idea in his head. It started to evolve in 2010 until he had enough to begin his writing journey. Marriage and two children came along, with the story being moved to the back burner for periods of time. However, during those periods of writing inactivity, the story continued to manifest until it just needed one thing. To be written down.
The story was littered with places that had influenced Phil's life. From the Lickey Hills in Birmingham to the Amatola Mountains in South Africa, with other many other locations, in-between and far beyond.
The book was finished sometime in 2014, left on his computer until a chance conversation with an author friend made Phil take the bold step to publish his story, Unknown.
From there, Phil’s love for the first book spurred him on, creating The Forsaken Series. A vampire/paranormal/horror saga, set in our world, and others too. His love of horror and all things supernatural, inspired by authors such as King, Herbert and others helped create the epic series.
After writing a science fiction novel, titled Zoo, Phil released his first psychological thriller, Ashes of Innocence, a story that he'd kept bubbling away for many years. This was quickly followed up by his seventh book, His Dark Shadow with a Cornish thriller series in the making, along with a standalone horror, The Awakening.
Aside from his writing, Phil lives on the edge of a small town in Worcestershire, UK. A wife and two sons keep Phil happily occupied as he steers his way through life, playing the husband, dad and world creator in equal measure

- Reviewed in the United States on July 28, 2024I enjoyed reading this story about alien abductions and interplanetary travel. It was well written, although some of the language was odd in terms of grammar (verbs), but I got used to it and kept reading. But it was definitely interesting and I liked that different groups and relationships were well described.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 20, 2019I would have given it a four star but too many editing mistakes to really get into the flow of reading.
From the abduction of British citizens from a small village to their captivity the story flow well when dealing with this part. However all the personal issues and romances kind of took away from the tale in this instance.
Also the premise that proof of aliens would cause the world religions to crash, wishful thinking maybe?
- Reviewed in the United States on April 23, 2019A friend suggested I read this book and so I thought I would give it a try. I am new to reading science fiction and wasn't quite sure what I would think about it. I am only half way through the book so far but I have to admit, I am hooked. I am finding myself wanting to know what happens next. I am looking forward to reading this book to the end.
Yes, there are typos and yes there could've been more proof reading but it hasn't taken away from the story, for me. Well done Mr. Price. You may have just made me a science fiction fan. Looking forward to reading more of your books.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 20, 2019The story premise—aliens abducting 100+ people from an English village fair—is intriguing. The plot execution delivers as does the author's skillful word crafting. However, three things tended to pull me out of the story. First, the book dives too deeply into too many characters for its length. Second, the principal alien culture felt very western European coated with advanced technology and slightly changed names. Third, while anything is allowed in fiction, some of the science—particularly in space travel—felt off rather than advanced. I'd like to see the author rework it as a longer novel or perhaps a series. And get someone to check the science. Having said all that, I still recommend it as a fun read.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 28, 2024I have no idea how this book had any good reviews. It was all over the place, barely thought out. Terrible story. I'm not sure how I even made it to the end.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 27, 2024This was a pretty good story, but the missing words and poor grammar made it a difficult read. I know it was free to read, but as an English teacher it made me cringe.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 1, 2022Interesting premise and characters. There are some flaws in the story, in my opinion. Also, there are more typos than I find acceptable, and the author likes to end character statements with question marks instead of periods.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent escapist Sci - fi entertainment.
Although Sci-fi isn't my usual choice of reading, I saw the cover, read the description, and thought I'd give this book a try. I'm glad I did, because I thoroughly enjoyed it. A group of people are enjoying a village fair when a bright light appears in the sky and in the blink of an eye, the villagers are gone as if they were never there.
They soon realise that they've been abducted by aliens! Despite fearing they will be subjected to experiments and physical abuse, it is soon explained to them that they are being transported to another world where a recreation of their home village awaits them and where they will live out their lives as exhibits in a sort of inter-galactic zoo, there to be observed at leisure by beings from many unknown worlds totally unheard of by the people of earth.
What happens next details the villagers attempts to convince the aliens to return them to their home planet and their families.
As their struggle continues, intergalactic war threatens their captors, and the plight of the earthlings becomes insignificant to their captors.
What follows is a whirlwind tale of alien love and inter-planetary warfare, with some surprising twists and turns as the possibility of returning to earth, seen at first as impossible, becomes a faint possibility. No spoilers from me. All I will say is that this book held my attention from start to finish, a real page turner and I have no hesitation in recommending it to readers of all ages.

5.0 out of 5 stars Recommend
Set in a little sleepy village in England, the story begins with a group of unsuspecting locals having fun at there annual Halloween fete. But from a corner of space, they are being watched, by an alien race who have been sent to relocate them (a polite way of saying kidnapping). Their new home will be on a far off planet where they will become exhibits in a Zoo where a replica of their village has been created, with everything down to the very last detail copyed and it is here they are expect to live out the rest of their lives. But like all best laid plans nothing goes according to plan.
From the very first page I was hooked, what unfolds is a great story of how a community has to come together to face the unforeseen circumstances they find themselves in which includes an intergalactic war. I found this book exciting and hard to put down I have to admit to reading half the book in one evening.
The author has created some wonderful characters that you easily find yourself attached to and I would definitely recommend this book to sci-fi fans and non sci-fi fans alike.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exciting , thrilling and makes you wonder
After reading Phil Price's Forsaken Trilogy, and being swept away into a completely different world, and I may hasten to add, loving every minute of it, I was eager, to read ZOO. Wow, not only has Phil Price, taken a big leap into the Science Fiction realm, but he's done it with ease.
Set in a little sleepy village in England,, the locals are having fun, at the annual fete, children are laughing, parent's are having the odd glass of whatever takes their fancy, hotdogs are eaten, and pumpkins are lit,
The villagers are happy, their little world is perfect, and then, in a blink of an eye, everything is the same, but different,as in a far off corner of space, we are being watched, and the villagers are just what the inhabitants of this alien planet need. They are needed for a Zoo, Their new home is a replica of the villager, everything is identical, and here they expect the humans to live out their lives,
While reading, I sat thinking "what if' it will make you wonder, like Mulder says "The Truth is out there"

5.0 out of 5 stars Epic sci-fi adventure
A number of villagers enjoying their annual village festival get abducted by aliens to be placed into an intergalactic zoo. Well it’s just brilliant isn’t it! However, if that wasn’t enough, war breaks out between the galaxies adding to the volatile situation. There is an abundance of sci-if action and danger with an added love story. Will the villagers ever return home? You’d have to read it to find out...
